What is a Pressure Point?

Lung Meridian

A pressure point is a place on the body where a nerve ends, where a nerve crosses another nerve or where it branches off in a "Y". Pressure points lie on what are called "meridians" of which there are 12 total. Each meridian has a relationship to an organ in the body. There are 309 classic pressure points in the body, plus 50 on the Vessels. There are also "extraordinary" points discovered after the initial set of pressure points where mapped.

Pressure Point Size

The size of a pressure point is that of the head of a pin. However the area of activation is approximately that of a silver dollar in the USA or a "looney" in Canada. To activate a pressure point you must strike it at the correct angle, which is $5 degrees and the correct direction, which will vary from pressure point to pressure point. The strike needs to be done with 2 Way action to be effective.
